Long ago if a certain man wanted to marry some particular girl and he knew that if he asked her to be his wife he would not get her because her people did not think him good enough for her. What he did was to go secretly at night and steal the girl from her home and carry her away from her home and carry her away on horseback. Her people then usually allowed the marriage to take place immediately.
