- (continued from previous page)The young people danced and sung to their hearts' content while the musicians never tired playing their fiddle. It was the custom for the young boys to dress up in straw and honour the feast by visiting the wedding party and playing and dancing some old Irish reels and jigs. This crowd was known as "strawboys" because they were dressed in straw. Often these "strawboys" demanded money and so their visit often led to disturbance and greatly interfered with the merriment of the wedding party.
