Ar an leathanach seo

  1. In former times people were full-grown before they wore any shoes, and even then they felt more at ease and better able to work when barefooted. Boots were only worn by people when going to Mass. There is a small farmer in the district who still goes bare-footed in the Summer.
    There was an old woman in this parish who died a few years ago, aged ninety nine years, and she never wore boots or shoes. She was able to dance a reel up to a short time before her death.
    When people wash their feet they put a live coal into the water before throwing it out.
    There area few shoe-makers in this parish. Some years ago many people got shoes made from
