    his surprise to see a fine mare and her two foals grazing peacefully in the field. He immediately set about looking for the owner, but no owner turned up.
    After a year he sold the foals and bought cows, and each year the mare had a lovely foal for him. All the neighbours wondered but the man remembered the old woman's blessing when he befriended her on that bleak snowy night.
