  1. When a suitable purchase was first negotiated Dick Johnny Walsh had a bog in Lyre, taken with his family in Kilmurry.
    Mahony the landlord promised to allow him the bog in the purchase. He made the same promise to three other Walsh families who also had bog taken with their farms.
    When the final negotiations were being made however, he would only allow them one acre of bog each.
    They refused to pay their rents. After about a year they were served with rits. The bailiffs came and carried off their cattle. Dick Johnny's cattle were not taken as had them safely off the farm before their coming.
    All the other paid their rents immediately Dick however held out. He shortly after got an eviction notice.
    On the first attempt to evict him the police failed hopelessly. On the second attempt however they succeeded,
    They had a number of specials from Dublin to evict him,
    The day of the eviction was one of the most exciting experienced in Kilmurry for many a
