    potatoes for sowing. The treatment given to the growing crop during the Summer, is first to weed them, then to earth them so as the stalks would not grow up too quickly, and then to spray them so as to hinder any disease especially blight.
    In former times, the potatoes used be dug with spades, but nowadays they have far quicker methods. They dig them out with a plough or potato-digger. Women or children mostly pick the potatoes. The big potatoes are picked first, and put into a pit by themselves. Then the small
