When an animal is sold a luck penny is given back. The amount varies according to the price of the animal. The highest luck penny is about five shillings and the smallest six pence.
When an animal is bought, it is marked with a cut of a scissors or with blue or red paint. The rope or halter is usually given away with the sold animal for luck.(continues on next page)- Collector
