At last the squalid toad was seen,
    Hopping and crawling o'er green.
The whistling wind the dust drys,
And then a rapid eddy plays.
Through dawn, the air is cold and chill,
My dog so altered in his taste,
Quick mutton bones and grass to feast.
Seen yon rooks how odd their flight,
    They imitate the gliding kite.
Has headlong downwards seem to fall,
As if they felt the piercing ball.
It will surely rain, I see with sorrow,
Our gaunt will be put off tomorrow.
