  1. Brigid McConnon is my name I live in the townland of Owery in the parish of Carrickmacross and in the barony of Farney in the south of Monaghan. There is about ten families in it and about ninety people altoget-her. The commonest name is McConnon.
    Most of the dwelling houses are slated. There are three people over seventy in it. The can tell stories and sign songs. The best singer is Felix McCaul.
    In former times the houses were more numerous than at the present time. There are seven of them in ruins now. The young people emigrated to America, England and Scotland. Some of them went at the age of sixteen years. There is plenty of them across the sea at the present
