time. There is a good song written on the townland but I only know a piece of it.
    O father dear,
    And did you hear,
    the news that going around:
    The fields are getting green
    Around old Owery town.
    On a Sunday evening
I used to see my comrades all
    Themselves and John McConnon
    And the famous Ned McCaul.
The land is hilly and rich. It yields good crops. There is one bog in it called Owery bog. There is a fort in it also and it is said that fairies can be seen often at it. There is a few streams in it and one river called Quinns River which separates the parish of Aughnamullen from the parish of Carrickmacross.
