    as long as they could. There was a man found dead in his own house and he was swelled up so much that they could not bury him in a coffin. So they buried him in a white sheet. There was another man found dead on the Bakers brae with his mouth full of grass. There came potatoes from Scotland called champions. Th people had to pay five shillings a stone for the potatoes. My Grand father bought a cwt of them and four lbs of onions. He put them in a room at the back of the fire.
