  1. Local Cures
    Mumps-- can be cured by going through a donkey's legs three times in succession or going round a well after sunset (after ) with a donkey's halter round the patient's neck.
    Whooping cough-- "By charities." Going round to three houses in which the man and wife are of the same name and get some eatable in each house and give it to the patient.
    Dirty mouth-- Can be cured by a posthumous child.
    Sty-- A person who had a gooseberry bush and touch the patient's eye with one every night for nine nights.
    Warts-- By rubbing a snail on the wart and hanging it on a bush to it decays and then the wart will decay.
