  1. In this district there are many old customs carried out still, some of these are.
    St Brigid's day
    crosses are made of rushes and put in the out offices and the dwelling houses, and kept there during the coming year.
    St Patrick's day
    In honour of St Patrick the whole of the Parish of Clontribret wear shamrocks, harps or badges, green is the principle colour worn. At mass hymns are sang in honour of this great saint.
    Shrove Tuesday
    feast is held in every houses at which a lot of pancakes are eaten.
    Ash Wednesday
    People get ashes on their foreheads.
    Palm Sunday
    Palm is blessed and put in each room of the house.
    Good Friday
    Rosary said three times. Stations of the Cross are made at three O Clock.
