- In a place in this district there was a lime-kiln called Rathdrum. Every night music and singing was to be heard at it. At first the people would crowd together near to it and listen to it but they soon became accustomed to it and they paid no more attention to it.
One night a crowd of men were together in a house. An argument arose between them as to what was causing the music. One of them decided to go into the kiln and see for himself but his companions cautioned him not to go. He did not give them any heed but went on to the lime kiln.
