  1. There was no machinery in the district long ago. The people used to beetle the flax and grind the corn themselves. The way they used to beetle : they had two things like two graips. The way they used to grind the corn : they would dry it in a pot. When they had it dried then they would get two stones and put a lock of corn on one stone and rub the other one on it. Every one used to do this long ago but no one does it now. The first sheaf they cut in the morning they would have the meal for their supper that night.
