- Boyhood MemoriesIt is now fourteen years and a month I might say
Since I started around this old land for to stray.
To each place of historic importance I've been
From the Cliffs of Fair head unto old Skibbereen.
What a contrast this seems to those days when a boy
When the home of my parents alone brought me joy
When will violin & bow I would play from my store
Of old Irish tunes when each day's work was o'er.Ah! those days of my youth, they now seem too few
That I spent on that fertile old soil of Cordoo
'Midst once loving hearts which alas! have turned cold
And affection replaced with the lure of the gold.
Still for all this sad tale sure my heart often teems
With pride every time that I see in my dreams
Those scenes of my boyhood each meadow & hill
