This song is nearly always sung at milking because the girl who met this lad had a jug and a stool.
The stable was not much different than the are now only there was a press in the wall to hold articals belonging to the horse. The horse's door was a half door. I mean a door cut in two halves. When the people were calling them the called them by their names Charlie or Tommy, Paddy Fannie and other names The hens and chickens are called "tuic tuic tuic" and the ducks are called "wheet wheet wheet" and the geese are called "goose goose goose" and the pigs are called "hurry hurry".
