    He then gave John a list of his debts and opening a drawer showed him a huge quantity of gold which he gave him telling him to pay for everything he owed and keep the balance which was enormous.
    "You can then return to your father, telling him you can never know what fear is, since you have not learned it before now."
    He then disappeared and was never seen more.
    John returned to his bed. The next morning he explained to his astonished hearers all he had heard and seen. He faithfully carried out the wishes of the Black man and returned home laden with gold to his father.
