    Through Annaglough headlands she flew like a bird
    With a speed that made dogs one and all look absurd
    The broad road she reached and in one bound she crossed
    And the dogs are dismayed for the scent they there lost
    With their nostrils dilated they rush to and fro
    While the hare halts a moment to gaze on the foe
    Half in pity half scorn she surveys the pack
    To see some rush forward and others rush back
