  1. This country is noted for hunting. A crowd of men gather around and blow their horns and the beagles all come when they hear them. Some of the beagles are brown some white and some black and white. They have short hair which is a great advantage to them When they are going through bushes they do not catch in them and they can run faster on this account. They are made more for endurance than for speed. Every man that comes takes his own dog with him. They do not kill the hare very often. If the men see the hare they chase the dogs off her. A wet day is the best for hunting because they can scent it better.
