The cure that the old people had for the mumps was to put a donkey's halter on you and walk you through the pigsty and make you rub your mouth against the door case.
The cure they had for whooping-cough was to eat meat left by a ferret. To put a donkey's halter on you and walk you across south running water three times, is also a cure for the mumps.
Another cure for the whooping-cough was to take a mare's milk after it had foaled.
A seventh son or daughter is supposed to have the cure for the evil.
A child that never saw it's father has the cure for the thrush.
The cure for a sty in your eye is to get ten thorns of a gooseberry bush and stick each thorn into the sty.
