Tabar na Péiste or the well of the serpent is so called because it was the scene of a fight between a saint and a serpent. The saint killed the serpent but he was so thirsty after his fight that a well sprung up to quench his thirst.
Boherkyle or the road of the wood, is so called because of a wood which is at one side of it.
