  1. Old inhabitants of Johnstown, Co Kilkenny especially those who were employed on the Foulkcourt estate tell stories of hidden treasure in or outside the castle.
    Many years ago when workmen were digging they found traces of what appeared to be a ground passage. This passage was closed by the landlord the late Major Healy. Since then no attempt has been made to reopen the passage. Workmen who are still believe that there is gold and silver plate beloning to the old abbey. On Some nights lights are seen in the abbey.
