a doleful apparation
As they passed through sweet Gortnahoe
The pride of Erin's nation
The bells were rang which raised a throng

That lined the Colliery mountains.
Five miles along a dauntless throng
that could not be retarded
With sicks and stones they broke their bones
That night in sweet Slieve Ardy
Their nice cold meat their knives and plate
Were such all in disorder all just alike
Tossed in the dyke
That night in sweet Sieve Ardy
In Killenaule both great and small
No longer they could tarry
They drove them round through Thurles town
