  1. St. Macartan was a strong christian and eager to spread the faith. He was the first Bishop of Clogher. He was converted at Dromehere. His name was Aodh but the people used to call him Mac Artan which means the son of Artan.
    St. Patrick converted Macartan and when crossing rivers Macartan always carried Patrick on his back. It is said that once when crossing a river Macartan threatened to let Patrick fall into it unless he
