- Potatoes are grown in our district each year. Some farmers sow from one to two acres and others one acre. A poor farmer might sow half an acre. The ground is prepared by the farmer and his sons or if he has no sons he has a servant boy. Some farmers plough down the manure that is the manure is spread on the ground before it is ploughed(continues on next page)
