- St WolstansOn the main road to Dublin there is a place called St. Wolstan's in whose grounds is said a thrush never sings. We are told it was a Convent for nuns and during the time of Cromwell all the nuns with the exception of one who escaped were put to death.This nun was standing in the garden and a thrush was singing over her head when one of Cromwell's soldiers came and slew her and a thrush did not sing there since.Maura Maher,
