“Long ago there lived an old man named Mr Patrick Grennan who lived in Kilmeague.”
Long ago there lived an old man named Mr. Patrick Grennan who lived in Kilmeague. One morning very early as he was going to his work he had to walk through a rath. He saw a leprechaun was mending hos boots when Patrick saw him. Patrick took the little man's hammer and when he went home he put the hammer in a box. Next morning when he got up to go to his work he looked to see was the hammer there but it was gone. As he was walking through the rath the next morning he saw several fairies in a ring. The fairies said "Come over heare(here) and have sport." The man said "If I wait any longer I will be late for my work." "Do not mind you will get money without working." "I will get no food without money," and the fairies said, "Come over heare(here) and drink tea." The man went over and while he was drinking the tea about twenty white horses and cows...
