A great many people are married on Shrove Tuesday on account of it being forbidden, to be married in Lent.
Wednesday is supposed to be a very lucky day for marriages.
Rich people generally give a dowry of money to their sons and daughters when they are getting married.
It is a great custom in this locality for a dance to be held on the night of the wedding.
The dance is generally held in the bride's house.
Most people in this district go on a honeymoon after their wedding and some go for a motor drive and then there are ribbons and flag blowing from the motor.
There are generally trainbearers or pages to hold up the bride's train, at the marriages of wealthy people.
When the married pair are leaving the Church, neighbours stand at the door and throw small pieces of coloured paper called, confetti on them.
