    into a basin or large dish.
    This being accomplished the soft stuff which was in the vessel was squeezed through a linen cloth in order to take all the water off it.
    The water was then allowed to settle in some vessel and when poured out the white starch appeared at the bottom.
    It was then washed a few times with clean water and it was reckoned much better starch than that which is bought to-day.
