Local sayings regarding rain.
In this neighbourhood there are many strange and peculiar sayings among the old people regarding the weather prognosities. By close observation of the elements they are able to foretell when rain is approaching.
If a ring encircles the moon at night it foretells rain. In Winter when the farmer and his family sit around the blazing turf fire and watch the blue blazes they then say "Rain is approaching(continues on next page)- Collector
