    People with the proper faith get cured there of ailments. There was a monastery also at Lahask near this school.

    People with the proper faith get cured there of ailments.
    There was a monastery also at Lahask near this school. It was to the left of the road between here and Strokestown. Up to ten years ago the old ruin was to be seen, but all the stones are now removed by the owner of the land. The field where it stood is the best land in the Parish.
    In Penal times one monk was left in charge while the others were driven out in exile. It is said that a busybody who was peeping in the keyhole, lost his eyesight as a result, as the friar spat in his eye.
    Another monastery was at a lonesome place named yet [R?] na Ruaige. There were ruins there up to the division of the farm by the Irish Land Commission. A story is told of the monastery. The custom of the times was that one friar also
