“Up Holden’s” Down Shea’s
No arrests were made. The police had to run. There was no Regatta in Fiddown that day. Years went by and all was forgotten and several boat-races were held in Fiddown again. The riverside people were never satisfied over the Faction fights on account of a great race that was to be rowed between a Fiddown crew and a down river crew from Windy House in four oared gigs with coxswains. The names of the boats were the “Swallow” and the “Red Rover”. The Fiddown crew owned the “Swallow” and Downane crew owned the “Red Rover”. The race was never rowed.- Collector
