    able to sing. He refused saying it (the song) was against her religions, but, as he said, she "pressed" him so hard to sing it or her, that he did so. He put his heart and soul into it, and he always did so with this song - great zest, I would say: showing that he meant every word of it.
    The only remark the Protestant woman made when it was over was that "it was "very well put together" The following verses are all I can recall:

    Give ear (air) to my song, it is plain to be seen,
    The pluck that we showed in the County Mayo,
    where "the ball" was tossed up in the midst of the green.
    we tossed it in Clare and in sweet Ballyhaunis,
    Kilkelly, Bellaghy, and famed Ballina,
    In Swinford we gave it an Irish tossover,
    With loud acclamations for Moore of Moorehall.
    How long we experienced the gibbet and halter,
    while Bess an' oul' Harry the sceptre did wear,
    Transporting and hanging our priests on the Altar,
    By ditches and hedges we had for to pray.
