I hope you will draw near,
And likewise pay attention
To those few lines you hear
Concerning those poor prisoners
In Wexford jail hard by,
Lamenting on their metal beds
Where many a hero (Hayro) lies. For six long (mths) months and better
We are enrangled (there) here,
Waiting for the Assizes our trial to "for to hear,
Waiting for the (Sizes) Assizes our trial to stand
In hopes we may not be compelled,
To leave our native land. We are loaded with strong irons
And fethered every day,
For fear that we'd break loose, "me" boys,
Or that we'd get away;
But if we could break loose "me" boys
Wouldn't that be a glorious sight
We'd "lave" our "blessin" with Thomas Fitzgerald
