  1. St. John's Priory
    About the year 1202 the Brethern of the Hospital of St. John were introduced into Kilkenny. They first resided in Tempul na Maul which is situated near Green's Bridge.
    The Earl Marshall endowed upon them a new foundation but the monks did not live there for about a century later. When the building was completed the order of St. John took over its new residence.
    At first this beautiful Abbey was but a shelter for the poor and afflicted. They acted in accordance to their vows and duties and became helpers in the cause for the recovery of
