  1. (continued from previous page)
    Now friends are scattered far and wide
    I'm bleeding fast - whate'er befalls -
    I'll venture to St Moling's walls;
    I'll get the priest - then welcome death,
    For "God and Country" my last breath.
    They found him in the early dawn,
    Beside the holy altar there -
    He was a widows' son - brave Shawn,
    For him, good people, say a pray'r.
    When through that hallowed place you stray,
    On good St. Moling's patron day,
    Remember then our friends who gave
    Their lives for just - a Croppy's grave.
    Brave earnest men, their bitter fate,
    Our glory is - this - 'Ninety-Eight.
    the above song is written to the old Irish air of "The Wexford Rebel".
    Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
