    A short distance from Graignamanagh on the County Carlow side there are three sets of cross-roads. One set is known as the upper cross. Here for many years there was a large bush growing and it was said that if wood from this bush was put into a fire it would not light.
    The origin of this tradition went back to an old story. Once a man was robbed and killed. When the robbers buried him his hand came up above the clay. They took him up and buried him in a different place but the
