  2. Patrick Kearney opened school here in 1824, he was educate in Old Leighlin, Co. Carlow. Income £20 per annum paid by parents.
    Spelling and Reading, Writing, Arithmetic were taught.
    School-house 17' by 12' thatched, in very repair, flags for seats, 2 windows, unglaized, built by subscription.
    Average attendance 66.
