One day Andy Murphy was going from Bournafea to Kilkenny to buy himself a pair of boots. He had about fourteen shillings in his pocket for the boots. When he was coming near Loch na Hára cross he heard a thrush singing. He thought the thrush was singing, "spend and God will send". When he reached the town he said to himself that he would chance it and spend the money. he started drinking and it was not long till he had all all the money spent.
