“Seamus was a shoemaker by trade but he was very lazy. He wished to make money without having to work for it.”
(continued from previous page)he saw a little man under a mushroom. Stepping up to him he grasped him around the body. The fairy gave a great shout but Seumas held him fast. At last he became quiet and spoke to him in a friendly way. I want to know where is there a crock of gold to be found," said Seumas. The fairy pointed to a big tree, which was in the rath. "Under the root of this tree the gold is hidden, said the fairy. "Go home for a spade and dig here and you will find it." Seumas did as he was told. When he came back he set to work. After some time he came on a small box, he pulled it out with great glee, saying, "Now I shall be rich for ever." He opened it and found inside only an awl, a last, and a hammer In one corner he got a bit of paper and on it were the words written. "Use these and thy will make you rich."- Collector
