Our exercise we shall forget.The school children get home early from school that evening.
On Easter Sunday everyone eats more than one egg. Some people eat five or six. On Holy Saturday the towns children go out the country and get their cúbóg (eggs) from the farmer.
On May night they make a big bonefire. The prettiest girl in the district is put sitting in a cushioned arm-chair. She wears a wreath on her head and they call her the "Queen of the May". They dance and sing and amuse themselves until late into the night then they go home.
On Assumption Day, 15th August. It is a custom in this district for all the mothers to bring their little children to the Presentation Convent and get them offered to the Blessed Virgin.
On Hollowe'en the children bring in a tub of water. They put it in the middle of(continues on next page)- Collector
