    and was tried in Monaghan and then was sentenced to the whip. He was tied to the tail of a cart and whiped from Cor-tolvin bridge to Monaghan Market house a distance of one mile. He did not die then but lived to fight again.
    The Seamus Connolly I have mentioned is the patriot leader who was executed in Dublin after Easter Week 1916.
