    times made into "crackers" for whips which purpose it served very well also.
    Bisum-makers mostly women carried on the making of this class of brush and when they had a number of bisums made they usually brought their supply to the local market towns where they were often sold at one penny each and it is told how some of these people were able in this way to gather up sums of money surprising by large after a number of years. Of course some of these bisums were sold at a dearer rate.
