    or Firkins which were capable of holding from fifty to seventy pounds of butter when full. These coopers also made a smaller class of butter-tub and this was called a "Cool" and held about from thirty to forty pounds of butter,
    When the Creameries started about thirty-five or forty years ago the call on the cooper became very small as the demand for Cools and butter-tubs immediately ceased.
    There are however a few local coopers still and their work consists chiefly in the making of plunge or upright churns, milk tubs, common tubs and a small-sized barrel, sometimes called a water-stand and which is used locally for holding water and is sometimes also fitted with strong hooks at the sides and these enable the stand when full to be carried
