- (continued from previous page)the water up into the dyke. The Carrigeen rath and Rathmoon rath are in sight of each other. Some people said that heavy battles were fought around them, because when people were flattening them out they found human bones and skulls in them.
There is a very famous rath outside Ballytore two miles called Mullaghmast. The English chiefs invited the Irish chiefs to a banquet. It was very treacherously done. There was a great number of Irish chiefs killed there. The banquet was to unite the English and Irish together. The English were to give it. This rath was covered over. There was supposed to be a big table allround the rath one man and his son were all that escaped. They were outside for a while and noticed that no one was coming out and everyone was going in.
