It was Sir Walter Raliegh who brought potatoes first to Ireland. He came from America and landed at Youhal in Co. Cork about the eighteenth century.
There are different kinds of potatoes. The are the Arran Banner, the Arran Victors, Kerrs Pinks and Presidents. The best-growing potatoes are the Presidents, and they are the best eating potatoes too.- Collector
