- About two years ago a peasant in the neighbourhood of Leix was cutting turf when he recognisied a basket in which there was butter supposed to be buried there since the Great Famine. It was a square block about 6" by 4" and ten lbs in weight. The man who found it distributed some of it among the neighbourhood and sent the rest to the National Museum in Dublin.
