  1. All the old people long ago made their own ink. They gathered elder berries and put them down in pots and boiled them.
    When they had them boiled well, they strained it and put more elder berries down to boil in the same water.
    After the second boiling it was strong enough. When they had it well boiled and strained, they put it in bottles. Then they had their own ink.
