- In the Bog lane situated one side of Abbeyleix there is a stream. It starts out of a well in Clooney's field & goes round three Raths or fairy forts.
This field where the well is could never be tilled or cleared. At that time Christmas & Easter Stations were held in the houses. This time it was being held in Clooney's house & they were telling the priest about this field. The priest told them to have a plough & two horses ready & he would plough the first sod round the field with his stole on him.
When they had this finished they suddenly saw a strange man & woman. Those two asked the priest would he give them care over the well, so he said he would. No afflictions came on the Clooneys or on the priest to this day.- Informant
